About our guest conductor…
Sarah Smith has been a member of the LaPorte City Band since 2021, and usually plays euphonium, though she’s also been seen with us playing trombone and tuba. She just graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Music Education. While at Ball State, Sarah was awarded the Outstanding Future Music Educator Award, the Academic Honors in Writing Award, and has been on the Dean’s list all four years. She was also a student conductor for the Ball State Orchestra and was president of the International Tuba Euphonium Association, where she revived Muncie’s Tuba Christmas. Sarah just completed student teaching at Pendleton Heights High School, and now will be teaching at Randolph Southern Jr/Sr High School as Director of Music.

The historic LaPorte City Band has been making music every year since 1879, making it one of the oldest continuous bands in the State of Indiana.

The band is under the direction of Charles Steck. Our announcer is Regina Smelser
