When the evenings start to chill, it’s time to get ready for harvest. Sweet corn, apples, pumpkins, you name it. Whether you pick your own or just pick it up from a roadside stand, it’s as fresh as it gets. Take some time to enjoy the harvest with a run through the 4 acres of paths in Coulter’s Produce Corn Maze. Celebrate everyone’s favorite fall fruit at Garwood’s Apple Fest, held yearly in mid September. This family friendly event features craft vendors, UPick farm fun, live music and wagon rides.
On the last weekend of September, the Scarecrow Festival promises fun for the whole family. It kicks off with a Harvest Contest featuring the tallest sunflowers, the heaviest pumpkins and the most unusual squash to be found. Then it’s a daily dose of entertainment, food and heaps of activities for the kids as Wanatah welcomes the autumn with style. Enjoy an autumn stroll on campus at Purdue University Northwest and feel the excitement of the return to class while enjoying the autumn colors and the Odyssey Arts and Cultural Events Series. The multi-piece contemporary sculpture exhibit graces the 268 acre campus and is open to the public during university hours.
